Printed electronics

Screen printing is the ideal choice for printed electronics. Printable conductive pastes can be applied to a variety of media with a Thieme screen printing machine.

Organic and printed electronics refers to printing processes in which electronic circuits and components are printed additively – i.e. layer on layer – onto paper, film or organic substrates. Printed electronics takes silicon-based microelectronics to a new level by enabling low-cost production of thin, rugged, flexible and lightweight electronic circuits. The method lends itself beautifully to mass production of flexible circuits and circuit components.

Screen printing is an excellent choice for printed electronics. Printable conductive pastes can be printed onto many different materials using a Thieme screen printing system. Plus, screen printing offers the advantage of speed. Coating thickness can additionally be controlled by selecting the right mesh product, adjusting the off contact or the shape of the flood bar. This allows you to lay down thicker coats with screen printing than with other printing methods. Thieme’s screen printing machines – including those equipped with vision systems for automatic substrate and component alignment – ensure high-precision printing with razor-sharp edges, uniform coat thickness and homogeneous coverage without imperfections.

Printed electronics covers a wide range of applications. Functional printing can print thin electronic components, semiconductors, insulators and laminations onto flexible plastic substrates. Applications cover a wide range from printed energy sources such as batteries and solar cells to electronic components such as transistors, diodes and resistors to displays, OLEDs, sensors, flexible circuits and antennas.
